Softball America also did a nice feature story on Keely
It’s titled “Hard Work Paying off for Virginia Tech’s Keely Rochard”
Awesome story about an awesome young lady.
Apparently her mom wasn’t sold on the idea of her being a pitcher when she was a little girl, but Keely was determined anyway.
“Even when I did pitch I was really bad and I walked everybody. I would just resume and be like, ‘OK, who’s next?’”
Love that attitude, but she still wants to get
better every day.
“I learn from everybody,” Rochard said. “All pitchers are different and you (strike) people out in different ways. Even if you throw the same pitch, you still have a different way of (striking) people out. I personally might be biased, but I think (Doug Gillis) is the best pitching coach ever. I am constantly learning something new every day.”
I sure am glad she’s on our team!
Let’s Go Hokies!
